چکیده

Colloidal micromotors are important candidates for a wide spectrum of applications, ranging from medicine to environmental remediation. Thus far, the propulsion force determination has been obtained colloidal motor motion speed and surrounding viscosity via Stokes drag. Herein, precise measurement method detailed analysis fundamental mechanisms Janus propelled by thermophoretic steam bubble vectors, revealing findings uninvestigated date, presented. Optical tweezers provide fast high‐precision measurements in all three orthogonal dimensions simultaneously. compared with isotropic hot Brownian reference microparticles, which have no defined vector that propels them perpendicular direction laser beam. display power intensity‐dependent propulsion, as well force‐based after surpassing threshold value water boiling. The thermophorethic vectors sum up micromotor direction. On contrary, counteracts photophoretic propagation light. Moreover, thermal‐based reduction around contributes significantly its guidance abilities.

Vapor-Driven Propulsion of Catalytic Micromotors

Chemically-powered micromotors offer exciting opportunities in diverse fields, including therapeutic delivery, environmental remediation, and nanoscale manufacturing. However, these nanovehicles require direct addition of high concentration of chemical fuel to the motor solution for their propulsion. We report the efficient vapor-powered propulsion of catalytic micromotors without direct additi...

Influence of Asymmetry and Driving Forces on the Propulsion of Bubble-Propelled Catalytic Micromotors

Bubble-propelled catalytic micromotors have recently been attracting much attention. A bubble-propulsion mechanism has the advantage of producing a stronger force and higher speed than other mechanisms for catalytic micromotors, but the nature of the fluctuated bubble generation process affects the motions of the micromotors, making it difficult to control their motions. Thus, understanding of ...

Hydrodynamics and propulsion mechanism of self-propelled catalytic micromotors: model and experiment.

The hydrodynamic behavior and propulsion mechanism of self-propelled micromotors are studied theoretically and experimentally. A hydrodynamic model to describe bubble growth and detachment is proposed to investigate the mechanism of a self-propelled conical tubular catalytic micromotor considering bubble geometric asymmetry and buoyancy force. The growth force caused by the growth of the bubble...

New materials for tunable plasmonic colloidal nanocrystals.

We present a review on the emerging materials for novel plasmonic colloidal nanocrystals. We start by explaining the basic processes involved in surface plasmon resonances in nanoparticles and then discuss the classes of nanocrystals that to date are particularly promising for tunable plasmonics: non-stoichiometric copper chalcogenides, extrinsically doped metal oxides, oxygen-deficient metal o...

A tale of two forces: simultaneous chemical and acoustic propulsion of bimetallic micromotors.

Bimetallic gold-ruthenium microrods are propelled in opposite directions in water by ultrasound and by catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. This property was used to effect reversible swarming, to stall and reverse autonomous axial propulsion, and to study the chemically powered movement of acoustically levitated microrods.
